Cause:

Formed in March 2001, Rethink Breast Cancer is a group of energetic people passionate about the cause and united in their desire to fill a niche in the realm of breast cancer organizations. We are the only national charity in Canada exclusively focused on young women and breast cancer. Rethink Breast Cancer helps young people who are concerned about and affected by breast cancer through innovative breast cancer education, research and support programs.

Action:

Rethink aims to bring a new approach and a positive style of educating young women about breast health and early detection of breast cancer. As well, Rethink supports young women who find themselves dealing with breast cancer at a young age. We strive to provide relevant information, online support and resources for young women with breast cancer. Rethink Breast Cancer is also raising funds to advance breast cancer research, creating a unique and desperately needed revenue source for post graduate students and MDs who want to pursue training in breast cancer.

Impact:

Since its inception, Rethink Breast Cancer has worked hard to tackle the serious issues of breast cancer in a positive, upbeat way. We have raised over one million dollars for the cause through the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign and allocated Career Development Awards to eight promising young researchers in Canada. As well, Rethink established the TLC - touchlookcheck.com - campaign in Canada as a fun and simple way to engage young women in breast health and educate them about early detection of breast cancer. Rethink continues to fund unique, supportive care programs and online support groups for young women with breast cancer.
